The conference will take place at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), Gatersleben, Germany. The IPK is a leading international research campus dedicated to plant science, offering a unique combination of biological resources, advanced technologies, and digital infrastructure that support cutting-edge research in genetics, phenotyping, and genomics. Central to its scientific capabilities are two major research infrastructures: the Federal Ex situ Genebank and the Digital Plant Phenotyping platforms. The Genebank, one of the largest of its kind globally, holds around 150,000 accessions and is evolving into a biodigital resource center with integrated molecular and phenotypic data. Complementing this, the PhenoSphere and other high-tech phenotyping facilities allow precise, automated observation of plant traits under controlled, field-like conditions. These platforms are essential for linking genotype to phenotype, aiding crop improvement and adaptation studies.
Additionally, IPK houses state-of-the-art microscopy, analytical chemistry, and DNA sequencing technologies, including high-throughput and single-molecule systems like PACBIO and Oxford Nanopore. These tools support comprehensive studies in genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenetics, enabling high-resolution insight into plant biology.
